  Had a great lunch there yesterday. One of the best pub steak and ale pies I have had. Proper ‘walled’ pie, with great shortcrust pastry and good flavour. Service was good, nice friendly welcome. Price was reasonable, and given the quality of the food, we felt we had excellent value for money. It’s a good idea to book, even on a Thursday lunchtime; we had dropped in on the off chance the previous week, and found no room – so it’s obviously popular.
  Good selection of real ales, include a couple from local breweries.

  We just got back from a superb evening celebrating my Dad, sister and my birthday. The food was outstanding but the thing that really made it great was the wonderful company. Thank you Natalie, Catherine, Will and Louie and the great cooks in the kitchen which, forgive me, the names fail me. Most likely the good wine has done that. Many thanks, you all do yourself proud and we all love coming to what is with out question the best pub in many miles. Thank you.

  We brought our family here for a meal it was a large party and the staff were helpful and accommodating, the service was excellent. Food very good, the only negative is that the portions were a little small.
